You have been very careful about going in the sun and always cover yourself with those sunscreens and shades. But at times, this may not be enough, especially if you tend to spend long hours under sun and have a fair skin too. That increases the risk of your getting Melanoma, a kind of skin cancer. You should always keep a watch over your skin, especially those with higher number of moles and check for any irregularities. Self examination soften help us identify potential skin cancers early.
Bill Cowher, the former Pro Football Coach has teamed up with major advocacy groups to start Melanoma Exposed, an educational campaign to raise awareness of the most deadly form of skin cancer. The aim is to raise awareness among American on Melanoma. Studies reveal that only 9 percent of men look upon melanoma as a major health concern which is not a good sign. Melanoma Exposed campaign will offer free skin screenings for the public. There would be public events organized with the help of Pro football teams and players such as Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Denver Broncos and New York Giants. Leading melanoma groups like Melanoma Research Alliance, Melanoma International Foundation, The Skin Cancer Foundation will educate American people about the importance of getting screened. Supported by Bristol-Myers Squibb, the objective about this educational campaign is to raise awareness of the most deadly form of skin cancer, Melanoma.
People with fair skin are more at risk of getting this cancer and men are at a higher risk as compared to women. One in every five American suffers from this form of cancer. The early the cancer is detected, the easy is the cure. Get in touch with your dermatologist the moment you notice any abnormalities in your skin. The standard method of the treatment for getting rid of the melanoma is by surgical excision. If detected early, Melanoma is completely cured.
